How Fast Can Teenagers Lose Weight?
-
Time Frame
-
The amount of weight a teen loses and at what pace she loses it depends on several factors such as genetics, diet and exercise plans. Normal weight loss consists of losing 1 to 2 lbs. per week. Losing too much weight too rapidly can cause drops in blood sugar and fainting.
Motivation
-
Begin your diet and exercise routine with a friend. Working toward the weight loss goal with a friend can be a great motivator and fun, too.
Eat Regularly
-
Teens should not skip meals. Fad diets and starvation techniques can be dangerous to one's health. Not eating can cause a loss of water weight, which may seem as though you are losing weight quickly, but it can lead to dehydration.
Eat Healthy
-
Eat healthy, balanced meals that include green vegetables. Eat healthy snacks such as fruits in between meals rather than potato chips or cookies. It's OK to treat yourself to goodies such as these once in awhile as long as you don't overdo it.
Drink Water
-
Drinking water with your meals can help fill you up quicker. Drink water between meals also rather than reaching for a snack.
Exercise
-
Exercise is an important part of your weight loss goal. Walking is great exercise, so walk as much as possible. Engage in forms of exercise that you enjoy, such as dancing. Proper dieting and exercise should lead to an average weight loss of 5 to 10 pounds per month.
