How to Clean a Contact Lens With Peroxide
Poorly cleaned contact lenses can lead to infections, blurred vision and irritable eyes. Using a hydrogen peroxide-based solution is one way to disinfect your contact lenses. It is also an alternative method of cleaning, for those who are allergic to the preservatives in typical saline solutions. Hydrogen peroxide is a powerful chemical that can burn your eyes. To avoid this direct contact, most hydrogen peroxide contact kits come with a built-in neutralizer. The neutralizer protects your eyes by transforming the chemical into water. If your kit does not come with a built-in neutralizer, you will have to use a neutralizing tablet.Things You'll Need

1
Properly wash your hands with soap and water. Dry your hands with a paper towel so that you do not get lint from clothing or a towel on your fingers.
-
2
Close the bathroom sink drain so that you do not permanently lose your lens. If you frequently drop your lenses, place a paper towel over the area. It is easier to see a contact lens on a white paper tower than on other surfaces.
-
3
Remove your contacts and place them into the case. Make sure to put your "right" and "left" lenses in the appropriate cases.
-
4
Add the hydrogen peroxide solution to the contact case. Your case should have a marking that indicates how much solution to add. If there is no marking, refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
-
5
Soak your lenses for the indicated amount of time in the solution. Some hydrogen peroxide solutions require you to soak the lenses for several hours.
-
6
Add the neutralizer tablet. Once the lenses are neutralized you will be able to put them back in your eyes.
