How to Donate Old Eyeglasses in Michigan

When your eyeglasses no longer meet your vision requirements or when you have had laser surgery and no longer need glasses, you can donate your old pairs of glasses to any number of places in Michigan. The glasses will be accepted and examined to determine the prescription strength, then they can be re-used or donated to people in need who cannot afford eyeglasses.

      Donate eyeglasses at the many Salvation Army Thrift stores in Michigan that accept used eyeglasses. The Michigan Salvation Army in South East Michigan will even come to your home to pick up donations. You can call them at 866-GIVETOO to arrange for a home pick-up or to ask for the nearest thrift store. Or go to the main branch at 1627 W. Fort St., Detroit. The thrift stores are open 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday; 7:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. They are closed on Sundays. There are also stores in Rochester Hills and Ann Arbor.

      Donate used eyeglasses at Goodwill Thrift stores in these cities across Michigan: Bay City, Birch Run, Burton, Caro, Clio, Fenton, Holly, Imlay City, Lapeer, Midland, Owosso, Oxford and Saginaw. If you have any unwanted items such as used clothing, you could donate those as well.

      Donate used eyelgasses to Pearle Vision stores in the following Michigan mall locations: Genesee Valley Center in Flint; Lansing Mall in Lansing; Midland Mall in Midland; Fashion Square in Saginaw; Grand Traverse Mall in Traverse City; Adrian Mall in Adrian; Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor. Other eyeglass and vision testing stores which accept used glasses are Eyemasters and Lenscrafters.

      Donate used glasses at Lion's Clubs in these cities in Michigan: Rock, Martin, Emmett, Romeo, Lawrence, Dowagiac, Three Rivers, Fraser, Clay, Croswell, Port Huron, Sterling Heights, Temperance, Richmond and Detroit.

      Donate your eyeglasses to the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Michigan.There is one in Grand Rapids. They use volunteers to sort the glasses then the eyeglasses are delivered to the needy in Central America.
