Zyoptix Vs. Lasik

Laser eye surgery is a complicated process and a serious decision. Though Lasik eye surgery prevails as the most well-known procedure, procedures like Zyoptix are jumping on to the scene, giving patients a variety of options.
  1. Laser Eye Surgery

    • Both Lasik and Zyoptix laser eye surgeries intend the same results. People who wear glasses or contacts can reverse their vision loss through a simple outpatient procedure, eliminating the need for optical enhancements.

    Lasik Surgery

    • Lasik surgery corrects myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism using a laser to reshape the cornea. The laser cuts a tiny flap in the surface of the cornea to access the stroma (the corneal layer below), reshapes the cells and folds the corneal surface back, allowing it to heal on its own.

    Zyoptix

    • Zyoptix laser surgery is based on the same principles as the Lasik surgery, but it allows more difficult eye problems to be corrected, including glares, halos and starbursts. Zyoptix uses a more delicate laser to solve these unique eye problems.

    Consultation

    • Consultation with an optometrist is the best way to make the decision between Lasik and Zyoptix. If the aberration in your eye is of the lower order, Lasik might be a better choice. But with more challenging problems, your doctor may suggest Zyoptix.
