Acuvue Oasys Specifications
An astigmatism causes vision to become blurry at a distance due to an irregularly shaped cornea or lens. It is a very common condition. Prescription glasses are a common treatment for astigmatism as, in general, the way traditional soft contact lenses shape to the eye cannot correct the condition. In response, Johnson and Johnson developed Acuvue Oasys soft contacts specifically for contact lens wearers with an astigmatism.-
Replacement Time
-
Oasys contacts can be worn two weeks before replacing if worn every day and removed at night, or for six nights in a row if not taken out before bed. After this time, the used contacts should be discarded and replaced with a new, clean pair. While worn, Acuvue Oasys lenses will correct an astigmatism and reduce blurriness, but the condition will remain once the lenses are removed. Johnson and Johnson recommends checking with your individual eye doctor to determine a personalized replacement schedule.
Tint
-
Each lens has a blue tint to make the contact easier to see while in the case. The blue tint, located in the center of the lens helps the user place the lens correctly over the iris and pupil.
HYDRACLEAR Plus technology
-
Oasys lenses have HYDRACLEAR® Plus technology, which has more moisturized wetting agents to maximize smoothness while the lens wearer is using the contacts. This technology is used to make it feel like you are not wearing contact lenses when wearing Acuvue Oasys.
Silicone Hydrogel Material
-
Silicone hydrogel material (senofilcon A) is used in Acuvue Oasys contacts, enhancing "breathability." According to Johnson and Johnson, it provides 98 percent of available oxygen to the eye when wearing the lenses.
Ultraviolet Protection
-
Acuvue Oasys has UV Protection Class I, the highest ultraviolet protection available for soft contact lenses. The lenses block up to 96 percent UVA and 100 percent of UVB radiation.
