How to Clean Transitions Lenses
If your eyes have trouble adjusting to various light conditions, your eye doctor will most likely recommend glasses with transitions lenses. Transitions lenses appear normal indoors where there is a normal amount of light, but as you move into brighter conditions, the lenses will begin to darken. In fact, outdoors it will appear as you are wearing sunglasses. Transitions lenses are much more expensive than regular lenses, so you will want to take good care of them, including regular cleanings performed in the proper way.Things You'll Need
- Optical lens cloth
- Water
- Mild dish soap
- Eyeglass case

Wet your transitions lenses with water. Silver Creek Optical does not recommend cleaning your transitions lenses when they are dry, as this can result in scratches on the lenses.

Rub both sides of the left and right lens with an optical lens cloth. Do this on a daily basis to keep your lenses free of lint and dirt.

Place a drop of mild dish soap in a clean bowl and add a 2 cups of warm water.

Dunk your transitions lenses in the soapy water, then rinse them off with water from the faucet. This is necessary once per week to give your transitions lenses a more thorough cleaning.

Dry the transitions lenses with an optical lens cloth.
