Homemade Eye Rinse of Charcoal & Sea Salt

A charcoal and sea salt eye rinse is believed by some alternative medicine practitioners to help heal eye infections, such as conjunctivitis. Activated charcoal is powdered, burnt wood that has been used medicinally for centuries as an aid in eliminating toxins and poisons from the body. Sea salt contains antibacterial and cleansing properties. Combining charcoal and sea salt in an eye rinse is believed to help kill the bacteria that causes eye infections. However, as with all folk remedies, consult with your doctor before using the charcoal and sea salt eye rinse to treat an infected eye.
