How to Repair Scratches on Plastic Glasses

It’s easy to scratch the lens on your plastic eyeglasses. When you take the glasses off and set them down, you must be careful to rest them on the side pieces and not the lenses or they’re almost sure to be scratched. Depending on where the scratch is located, it can be mildly to extremely difficult to see out of scratched lenses. You can repair scratches on plastic glasses in a couple of ways.

Things You'll Need

• Glass cleaner
• DVD/CD repair kit
• 3 soft cloths
• Furniture polish
• Eyeglass case (optional)

DVD/CD Repair Kit

• 1

  Clean the glasses with a glass cleaner and a soft cloth.

  Spray the solution provided with the DVD/CD repair kit onto the plastic glass, especially covering any scratched areas.

  Buff the solution into the scratch with a soft cloth, rubbing the plastic lens the length of the scratch and back.

  Repeat this process as many times as necessary to remove the scratches from the plastic glasses.

Furniture Polish

  Clean the glasses with a wet cloth.

  Spray furniture polish over the scratches on the plastic glasses. Make sure to completely fill in the entire scratch with the furniture polish.

  Wipe the excess furniture polish off with a soft cloth. Do not wipe the polish off the scratch. Let the polish dry for 10 minutes. The scratch should be gone.
