Eat nutritiously to combat the signs of aging. As you age, your skin loses its firmness; this can be detected particularly in the extremely thin skin around the eye area. Not eating properly makes the signs of aging more pronounced. Avoid salty and fatty foods. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits. For Vitamin C intake, consume grapefruit, orange juice and vitamin supplements. Melatonin is a natural hormone in the body; melatonin supplement enhances your immune system and reduces baggy eyes. It should be taken in small doses; therefore, consult with your doctor before using it.

Drink at least eight glasses of water every day. Avoid caffeine, alcohol and soft drinks, which dries the skin. Do not smoke and try to avoid areas with secondhand smoke, which lower your body's Vitamin C and cause your eyes to become bloodshot and watery.

Put a chilled cucumber slice over each eye for fifteen minutes to eliminate swelling and puffiness. You may also put chilled teabags over your eyes; keep them on as you nap. Get proper sleep. If you are stressed and did not get much sleep the night before, try to take naps to compensate. During resting, lay on your back with your head raised on two pillows to improve circulation.

Get a facial massage. Clean your face; then, use a light textured oil or cream to avoid stretching the skin. Almond oil or jojoba oil soften and soothe the skin---they are not greasy or heavy. You can also massage with plain aqueous cream---a light non-greasy and economical moisturizer. Perform the facial massage by keeping your touch gentle. Avoid stretching the skin. Afterwards, remove the oil with a gentle cleanser or use a tissue to blot it.

Apply facial creams correctly. If improperly applied, particularly in the morning, facial creams can make your eyes puffy. Do not apply the cream to the center corner of the eyes, which is close to the nose. The cream could seep into your eye and obstruct a tear duct (small tube that tears flow through).
