How to Cure Sticky Dry Eyes
Sticky, dry eyes are a symptom of conjunctivitis, or pink eye, which is an infection of the eye lining. Prescription treatments are available, but there are also nonchemical methods that will effectively cure this unsightly and irritating condition. Implement a routine that includes cleansing the eye area with a soothing eye wash to treat and remove sticky residue from the affected eye. An infusion made with the herb chamomile is a natural home remedy for soothing eyes.Things You'll Need

Instructions

Chamomile Tea Treatment
-
1
Boil water in a small sauce pan. Remove the pan from the heat source.
-
2
Insert a bag of chamomile tea into the water. Allow the tea to infuse the water for approximately 15 minutes.
-
3
Dampen a cotton ball with the cooled tea water so that it is moist, but not dripping.
-
4
Wipe the affected eye from the inside, along the lash line, to the outside.
-
5
Repeat the process with a new cotton ball, until there is no stickiness visible on the eye.
Antibiotic Drops or Ointment
-
6
Visit your family physician. Explain your symptoms and ask if an antibiotic is warranted.
-
7
Select antibiotic drops or ointment. Ointment is usually easier to apply to young children, though it can cause blurred vision for several minutes.
-
8
Use the prescription until it is gone. This will help to prevent recurrence.
Allergy Treatment
-
9
Determine if your conjunctivitis might be due to allergies.
-
10
Take an antihystamine. This will help relieve sticky and dry eye symptoms caused by allergies.
-
11
Avoid allergens that may be contributing to your irritated eyes. Triggers may include pets, dust mites and pollen. Wash bedding and clothes to remove traces of these allergens.
