How to Remove Particles in the Eye

When removing particles from the eye, it is always best to err on the side of caution. If a few simple steps do not remove the foreign object from the eye, it is always best to seek out medical attention for treatment. With a child, it is extremely important to seek immediate treatment because the cornea can become scratched if the eye is rubbed. Due to the fact that the eye is an extremely delicate structure, permanent damage can be done if the particles are not removed correctly.

Blink the eye multiple times. The production of tears and the movement of the top eyelid across the surface of the eye may help to remove the particles.

Pull the upper eyelid gently away from the eye, and place it over the lower eyelid and blink several times. The eyelashes from the lower eyelid can remove particles inside of the upper eyelid.
