Eye Exercises to Reduce Sight Problems

You might not have to undergo expensive eye surgery to correct your vision problems. There are many eye exercises that will help improve your vision. Eye exercises won't reverse severe eye damage, but they can definitely help correct minor problems. Before you think that you need surgery, perform a few eye exercises at your home and see the results.
  1. Round and Round

    • Close your eyes and roll them in a slow and steady clockwise motion. Keep your focus as far to the edge of your eyes as possible. Do four to five full rotations and then repeat the process in a counterclockwise motion.

    Peripheral Vision Test

    • Fully extend your arm directly in front of you and point your index finger to the sky. Focus on the tip of your index finger and slowly move your arm up until you can no longer see your finger without moving your head. Bring your arm back down to the center. Move your arm all the way to the right until your finger is no longer in your peripheral vision and then slowly bring it back to the center. Move your hand all the way down, bring it back to the center, then move your arm all the way to the left and finally return it to the center. Make sure to keep your head completely still while performing this exercise. Repeat the full exercise four or five times.

    Pencil to Nose

    • Hold a pencil out in front of you at arm's length and focus on its tip. Once you have a steady focus, slowly bring the pencil toward you until the tip touches your nose. Keep your focus on the tip the entire time, and slowly push your arm back out to the starting position. Do this 10 times.

    Invisible Alphabet

    • It might be easier if you do this exercise while facing a wall. Close your eyes and draw out each letter of the alphabet with your eyes. Keep your head completely still and use only your eyes to perform the exercise. Do the entire alphabet twice--once lowercase and once uppercase.
