Why Wear Disposable Contact Lenses Over Soft Lenses?

Disposable contact lenses are designed to be used for a set period---usually a day or two---and then tossed in the trash. This has a number of benefits over soft contact lenses, which are cleaned and used again for long periods of time.

• Cleaning lenses every night can be a tiresome chore. With disposable contact lenses, you don't have to waste time on cleaning.

Health

• Lenses worn over long periods of time can develop harmful buildups of substances, like calcium, that are found naturally in your tears. This can damage your eyes. Disposable lenses avoid the problem entirely.

Comfort

• Disposable lenses tend to be thinner and thus more comfortable than extended-wear lenses.

Replaceable

• When permanent lenses are damaged, you need to contact your lens provider or optometrist before you can get a replacement (and pay replacement costs). With disposable lenses, you simply take the next one out of your supply.

Cost

• While you pay additional costs to keep buying new disposable lenses, you also save money by not paying for lens-cleaning supplies.
