Homemade Remedy for Swollen Eyes
Waking up in the morning to look in the mirror and find that your face looks like a balloon is no fun for anyone. Puffy or swollen eyes can be caused by a variety of things such as pressure on the eyes, crying the night before, lack of sleep, too much sleep and alcohol use. Home remedies for swollen eyes have been around for ages, and many of them are very simple to apply.-

Investigate the cause for your swollen eyes. Sleeping face-down with your head buried in the pillow or something pressed up against your eyes can cause pressure and lead to overnight swelling. Adjust your sleeping position if you feel that this may be the sole cause of swollen eyes in the morning.
Pick a home remedy that works for you. One home remedy is to simply splash cold water on your eyes or holding a cold-water compress on your eyes for about 10 to 15 minutes. Try soaking a spoon in ice water for a few minutes to chill the spoon, then place it below your eyes on top of the swollen area and gently massage the area for a few moments; then chill the spoon and massage the other eye. Cut a cucumber into 1/4" thick slices and place them over your eyes for about 15 minutes. The cucumber itself contains no special properties that help to reduce swelling; it's the water in the cucumber that helps to re-hydrate and moisturize the skin.
Try applying herbs like witch hazel or chamomile tea bags, which have a high concentration of humectants like glycerine. Make tea with a couple of chamomile tea bags, set the bags aside to allow them to cool, then place them under your eyes for about 10 minutes.
Any home remedy needs personal experimentation to find out if it's the one that works the best for you.
