Ever since soft contact lenses were first introduced in 1971, people have worn them to improve their overall vision. Swarovski Sparkle Contacts

• In 2008, design company Designboom and crystal make Swarovski held a design contest called "Crystal Vision." Designers from around the world were challenged to use Swarovski crystals in a new and creative way. Anthony Mallier from India came up with the idea of mounting the tiny crystals in a circle along the edge of a contact lens, and called his invention "Sparkle." He won second place in the contest, but these contacts have yet to be produced.

Sparkles Gold Contacts

• Sparkles Gold contact lenses are made by specialty contact lens distributor Marietta Vision. These soft contacts are plano lenses, which means they do not provide any vision correction. These lenses do not change the color of your eyes, but add a golden sparkle to the iris, or colored part of your eye. You receive one lens per vial, and the price varies from $20 to $25 a lens.

FreshLook Radiance Contacts

• FreshLook Radiance contact lenses are made by major contact lens manufacturer CIBA Vision. These soft contact lenses add a deeper color and metallic sparkle to your natural eye color. Autumn bronze and Sunrise gold colors are for dark eyes, and Moonlight silver and Eden green are designed for light eyes. These lenses cannot fully change your original eye color. You can buy these contacts either for vision correction or as plano lenses. You receive six lenses for one eye in each box, and the price ranges from $29 to $40 a box.

Cellini Gold Contacts

• Cellini Gold contacts are made by Marietta Vision. These soft contact lenses give a golden glimmer to your eyes. Prescription lenses are available from power -6.0 to 0.0. Each vial contains either one left or right lens and cost $25 to $30.

General Contact Lenses Information

• You can wear contact lenses even if your vision does not need correction. However, you still need a doctor's prescription, since contact lenses are considered a medical device and need to be fitted. Find out when you need to clean your contacts, when they need to be replaced and for how long you can wear your contacts each day. Try out your contacts for a week or so, and then return to the doctor for a final check of your eyes.
