Some of the various eye diseases that exist include age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eye, glaucoma and diabetic eye disease according to the National Eye Institute. These eye diseases usually affect vision and are never fatal.-
Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration is the gradual decline of sharp and clear vision due to aging according to the National Eye Institute. Age-related macular degeneration is most common among people over the age of 60.
Cataracts

Cataracts occur when the lens of the eye becomes cloudy, which results in blurred vision according to the Mayo Clinic. People with cataracts have an extremely difficult time driving at night.
Dry Eye

Dry eye is caused by tear glands producing insufficient amounts of fluid, which results in tear film breaking down and dry spots being formed according to the Mayo Clinic. Treatment for dry eye centers around restoring tear film to its normal state.
Glaucoma

According to the Glaucoma Research Foundation, glaucoma refers to a group of diseases that cause vision loss. One of the major risk factors for glaucoma is high blood pressure.
Diabetic Eye Disease

The National Eye Institute explains that diabetic eye disease refers to a group of eye diseases caused by diabetes including diabetic retinopathy, cataracts and glaucoma. All forms of diabetic eye disease can cause loss of vision or blindness.
