Timolol Maleate Side Effects
Timolol maleate is an ophthalmic medication used in the treatment of internal pressure of the eye. The medication is used primarily in treating symptoms associated with glaucoma and other similar problems that can lead to vision failure. As with most eye treatment medications, there are a number of side effects that can come as a result of using this drug.-

Some of these side effects include burning, stinging, and inflammation coming as a result of administering the drug. While these are considered the most common side effects associated with using Timolol Maleate, they only affect a small number of users.

Although this medication is applied directly to the eye, it is possible for the drug to have adverse effects on other parts of the body. This absorption problem is most prevalent in users that suffer from one of the following ailments: diabetes, asthma, decreased heart function, and other respiratory problems. If you suffer from any of these problems, contact your doctor immediately for further instruction.
Possible Drug Interactions

It is very possible that Timolol Maleate can have an adverse effect on the user if they are currently taking any of the following medications: epinephrine, blood pressure medications, clonidine, heart medications, digitalis, quinidine, or any type of beta blockers. If you are taking any of these medications in conjunction with Timolol Maleate, it is advised that you discontinue use.
Usage

Always use this medication in direct conjunction with your doctor's orders and never in dosages that exceed the recommendations written on the label. If you are required to use more than one eye drop medication, be sure to use the drugs at least 10 minutes apart for the best results. To administer, first tilt your head back. Take your index finger and pull back the eyelid of the affected eye and squeeze the applicator until the prescribed amount of drops have been placed into the eye. Immediately close the eye and allow the medication to apply itself.
