Side Effects of Lotemax
Lotemax is an eye drop medication used in the treatment of various irritations of the eye that cause redness, swelling and pain. The medication is an ophthalmic corticosteroid that works by reducing inflammation caused by bacteria that has entered the eye. As with most eye drops, there are a number of side effects that can result from using the drug.-
Common Side Effects

Some of the side effects of Lotemax include discharge, blurred vision, eye redness, eyelid swelling, dry eyes, foreign body sensations, increased tearing, headaches, runny nose, sensitivity to sunlight, itching, sore throat and a stinging sensation when the drop is first placed into the eye.
Severe Side Effects

Unfortunately, there are also a number of severe side effects that can come as a result of using this medication. Some include hives, difficulty breathing, tightening of the chest, swelling of the mouth and tongue, vision changes, continually worsening itching, eye pain, severe swelling, and delayed healing after surgery. These side effects are extremely rare and only affect a small number of users.

Lotemax eye drops have been known to cause blurred vision in some users. As a result, it is recommended that users do not operate any type of machinery (including automobiles) while using the drug. Soft contact lenses have been to known to absorb some of the chemicals present in the medication, so it is recommended that users do not use them throughout the course of their cycle.
Usage

This medication is for use as an eye drop only and is not meant for ingestion through the nose or mouth. Before using Lotemax, please wash your hands thoroughly. To apply, use your index finger to pull away your eye lid, exposing the inside of the eye. Once exposed, squeeze the recommended dosage from the bottle into the eye and close immediately to allow the medication to apply. If you miss a dosage of Lotemax, take the next dosage as soon as possible and never take more than the recommended amount.
