Cold Reduces Swelling
-
Most people notice that puffy eyes are most obvious when they wake up. Each morning, splash your face with cold water. Place cucumber slices over the eyes for several minutes to reduce swelling. Two tea bags moistened with cold water will also work.
Wet a soft wash cloth with water and place in the freezer overnight. In the morning you can lay the rag over your face to diminish puffiness.
A simple way to use cold temperature to reduce swelling is to keep two spoons in the freezer. If you notice swelling in your eye tissues take the spoons out of the freezer and place the backs of them over your eyes until they lose their coolness.
Other Home Treatments

Get enough sleep each night. Place several pillows under your head to elevate it while you sleep. This will reduce fluid retention and pressure on your eyes and surrounding tissues.
Massage the tissues surrounding your eyes. Use your weaker index finger to put a small amount of pressure on this fragile skin and reduce the risk of tear. Make small circular movements with your fingers to stimulate blood flow. A dab of vitamin E or aloe can be used to help moisturize the area.
Drink cranberry juice and have some raisins or bananas to reduce bloating. Avoid too much alcohol and sodium and drink a lot of water to help flush excess salt from your system.
If the puffy bags under your eyes are dark like a bruise, you may want to cover them up if you cannot get the swelling and discoloration to fade. Dab yellow concealer on the area and then blend in with all over foundation. Avoid green-based concealers as this will magnify the problem.
