An eye patch is a patch big enough to cover a person's eye. It is secured in place by a piece of elastic that runs around the back of your head, from one side of it to the other. This piece of elastic allows you to adjust the eye patch and hold it in place. Eye patches are necessary when you injure your eye to give the it time to heal. The eye patch can also be used by individuals who have lost an eye. If you find that you are in need of an eye patch, it won't be that difficult to find one.Things You'll Need

Or buy an eye patch. They are available in pharmacies, and also online. The cost ranges from $3 to $20, depending on the quality of the eye patch. Or contact your insurance company to find out if they will provide an eye patch for you. Do this before you order the eye patch in case they refuse to cover the cost. Some insurances may cover the eye patch if it is a medical issue, but not if it is a cosmetic issue. You will also need to find out if the insurance company will ship you an eye patch, or whether they will just reimburse you after you buy one.

Make your own eye patch at home. Cut two identical circles out of black fabric or felt, making them large enough to cover your eye. Measure your head and cut a piece of elastic to fit. Place one end of the elastic in between the two layers of fabric on the left side. Swing the elastic around and place the other end of the elastic in between the two layers of fabric on the right side. Use super glue to glue the elastic and pieces of felt together. When the glue drys you can wear the eye patch.
