About Travatan's Side Effects
Travatan (travapost) is an ocular medication used to treat glaucoma and reduce pressure in the eye. Travatan is prescribed as a liquid solution and is either called Travatan or Travantan Z. Both types of Travatan have potential side effects.-
History

Travatan and Travatan Z are made by Alcon. Travatan Z is a newer form of Travatan, replacing the preservative BAK (benzalkonium chloride) with an ionic buffered preservative called SOFZIA.
Side Effects

The most common side effects for both forms of Travatan are red eyes, dryness, discomfort, itching, increased tearing, the feeling of "something in your eye," blurred vision;changes in eyelashes growth and headache.
Additional Side Effects

More severe reactions could include but are not limited to hives, moderate to severe itching, rash, swelling of the face, tongue or lips, chest pain, difficulty breathing, discharge from the eyes, pain, severe headaches and vision changes.
Considerations

Ophthalmic solutions like Travatan and Travatan Z are known to cause pigment (color) change in both the iris and eyelids, as well as a change in lash growth, which can be permanent.
