Side Effects of Xalatan
Xalatan is essentially a medication used in the treatment of glaucoma. When someone is suffering from glaucoma or another type of eye condition, he may begin to experience a certain level of pressure within the eye. This can eventually affect the health and composition of the tissue of these organs. Xalatan can begin to regulate the amount of fluid within the eye, thereby lessening the pressure you are currently experiencing. As with any form of medication, Xalatan is not without its risks. Some people who are prescribed this medication may experience certain side effects from its use.-
Visual Disturbance
-
When Xalatan is used in the treatment of an eye condition, you may begin to notice what is best described as a visual disturbance. Typically, it will manifest as an almost blurring to the entirety of your vision, but it may also bring about an increased sensitivity to light, impeding your ability to see.
Itchiness
-
Sometimes, the use of Xalatan may cause the actual eye to begin to experience a certain amount of itchiness. This same side effect can also manifest as a burning or a stinging sensation within the eye. Usually, this side effect will subsist after your body has acclimated to the medication, but you should still talk to your doctor about any sensations you are feeling within the eye.
Dryness
-
Another fairly common side effect of Xalatan will be an increased amount of dryness within the eye itself. As you begin taking the prescription medication, the fluid within the eye will begin to lessen, reducing the pressure within the eye. But, this reduction in fluid may also begin to affect the overall moisture of the eye, causing it to become drier than normal.
Discoloration
-
On occasion, Xalatan may prompt the side effect that involves some discoloration to the lid of the eye. When you begin using this particular medication to reduce pressure within the eye, you may notice a darkening taking place within the skin of the lid of the eye.
Discomfort
-
You may also begin to notice the side effect of an overall discomfort to the lid or eye from the use of Xalatan. Since the fluid content of the eye will inevitably be altered by the drug, it stands to reason that you may begin to encounter a slight discomfort to either the lid or the eye as the flow of fluid changes. This side effect may also manifest as an overwhelming sensation of having something stuck in your eye when nothing is actually there at all.
Pain
-
This medication can prompt some pain and discomfort to other areas of the body. This pain or discomfort can be felt within any point on the body where there is a muscle or a joint. It can also manifest as a general ache, commonly experienced from the likes of the flu.
