Needing reading glasses means that you have farsightedness, which is also called "hyperopia." The need for reading glasses usually develops as you get older, although babies and children may have it as well. According to the National Library of Medicine and the Mayo Clinic, signs you need reading glasses include blurry vision and headaches.

    • If the words in your book, newspaper or on your computer screen appear blurry, this is a clear sign you may need reading glasses.

    Crossed Eyes

    • Crossed eyes, also called "strabismus," may occur in young people who are in need of reading glasses.

    Eye Pain

    • If you need reading glasses, your eyes may hurt after you spend a long period of time reading or using your computer.

    Headaches

    • You may experience headaches after reading books or papers with small print, which is a sign you may need reading glasses.

    Squinting
