How to Identify Symptoms of Eye Inflammation

1
Pay attention to any pain generated in the eye. Often times, individuals mistake eye pain for symptoms of a headache, but such is not the case when the eye is inflammed. Early signs of an inflammation may also include a sensitivity to light and marked redness in the eye.
-
2
Watch for a smaller pupil in the eye that is affected. While this symptom may or may not appear in all individuals experiencing eye pain or inflammation, it is something to watch out for. Look in a mirror during normal day or night time conditions to see how large or small your pupils are. Notice if they look different when accompanied by additional symptoms.
-
3
Note any excess production of tears in the eye(s). Tears are produced to help purge or export germs and bacteria from the eyes, as well as lubricate the eye so that it remains moist.
-
4
Be alert for any signs of blurred vision or other disturbances. These may or may not be accompanied by eye pain or discomfort.
-
5
Pay attention to any "floating spots" in the vision. Often, this symptom is also accompanied by sensitivity to light and blurred vision.
