How to Treat Fuchs Dystrophy

Fuchs’ dystrophy is an inherited eye disorder that affects the cornea. People with this disease usually begin to see symptoms around the age of 50. The disorder begins with blurred vision upon waking and vision getting better throughout the day until there is no vision at all. There are several treatments for Fuchs’ dystrophy that range from short term relief to long term relief.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase eye drops or ointments that reduce fluid content in the cornea.

    • 2

Hold the blow dyer at arms length and turn on to warm setting. Blow the air across your face two or three times daily to reduce fluid.

    • 3

Wear soft contact lenses which may reduce discomfort and improve your vision.

    • 4

Talk to your physician about surgery. In some cases, doctors will cover the cornea with a thin membrane which will reduce the pain.

    • 5

Talk to your physician about cornea transplants.
