  Ask your optometrist for a prescription for contacts, if you have any vision problems. Get a prescription that contains your accurate eye measurements, even if there is no vision problem.

  Purchase the color of lens you want either the optometrist's office or online. If you purchase online, you will need the prescription from your optometrist. Look at the color charts for each contact lens brand to choose the right color.

  Try on the contacts, if you purchase them from the optometrist's office. Sometimes the doctor will have samples of colored contacts you can try on. Make sure the contacts feel comfortable before purchasing more, and that the color looks like you want.
