Eye What to Expect
When you go to the eye doctor, you can expect the following to happen:
* The doctor will ask you about your medical history and your vision. They will want to know if you have any eye problems or if you are taking any medications that could affect your vision.
* The doctor will perform a series of tests to check your vision and eye health. These tests may include:
* Visual acuity test: This test measures how well you can see at different distances.
* Refraction test: This test measures the shape of your cornea and lens and helps the doctor determine if you need glasses or contacts.
* Slit lamp exam: This test uses a special microscope to examine the front of your eye, including your cornea, iris, and lens.
* Dilated eye exam: This test involves using drops to widen your pupils so the doctor can get a better look at the back of your eye, including your retina and optic nerve.
* The doctor will discuss the results of your tests with you and recommend a treatment plan if necessary. If you need glasses or contacts, the doctor will give you a prescription. If you have an eye disease or condition, the doctor will discuss the treatment options with you.
It is important to see the eye doctor regularly to ensure that your vision and eye health are healthy.
