How frequently should one have an eye exam?
It is recommended that healthy adults without any pre-existing eye conditions or risk factors should have a routine eye exam every two to four years. People with certain eye conditions, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, or other vision concerns, may need to visit an eye doctor more frequently, as recommended by their optometrist or ophthalmologist. It is also recommended that children receive an initial eye exam at around six months of age, followed by exams at ages three, five, and eight.
