Can sinus inflammation cause eye floaters?

Eye floaters are usually caused by a build-up of fluid called the vitreous humour in the back of the eye, which becomes thicker and denser over time. While inflammation in the sinuses is unlikely to cause floaters by itself, it can often affect symptoms of existing eye floaters.

When sinus inflammation occurs, the pressure inside the sinuses increases. This pressure can cause the eye to bulge forward, which changes how light enters the eye and results in floaters appearing more frequent or larger than usual. Additionally, sinus inflammation can lead to nasal congestion and headaches, which can heighten awareness and focus on the floaters.
