Can eye strain on computers and video games cause floaters?

While eye strain on computers or video games can cause temporary visual disturbances, it's unlikely to be the direct cause of floaters in your eyes. Floaters are usually caused by age-related changes in the vitreous humour, the gel-like substance that fills the inside of your eyes. As we age, the vitreous humour can start to liquefy and separate from the retina, causing tiny pieces of debris to float in front of your vision.

Some people may experience an increase in the visibility of floaters when they spend a lot of time looking at screens, but this is usually temporary. If you're concerned about your floaters, it's best to consult with an eye doctor for a proper evaluation.
