Is it normal to have one blurry eye and the other clear?
Blurred vision in one eye should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist, regardless of whether or not the other eye has clear vision. Some possible causes of blurred vision in one eye include, but are not limited to:
- Refractive errors, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism
- Corneal issues, such as injury, infection, inflammation or corneal ulcer
- Retinal conditions, such as macular degeneration, retinal detachment or diabetic retinopathy
- Changes to the lens of your eye, such as a cataract
- Optic nerve damage, such as from glaucoma
- Infections such as conjunctivitis (pink eye) or uveitis (inflammation of the middle layer of the eye)
- Other conditions, such as dry eye syndrome, thyroid eye disease or a stroke
It's important to see an eye doctor to determine the exact cause of your blurred vision and receive proper treatment if needed.
