How to Measure Eye Glass Frames and Lenses
Getting the right eyeglasses means more than having an accurate prescription for the lenses. The fit is important as well, ensuring not only that your glasses feel comfortable, but that your eyes are looking through the lenses properly. Measuring both the frames and the lenses is essential to getting the perfect fit from your eyeglasses. There are a number of different measurements to take into consideration, including the lens height and width, arm length and the bridge length. These measurements are done in millimeters.Things You'll Need

1
Measure the full width of the frame from the outer edge of one lens to the outer edge of the other. Do not include the arms in this measurement, but do include the frame itself. Be sure to measure across the widest part of the frame.
-
2
Measure the height of the frame across the tallest portion of one lens. Include the frame itself in this measurement.
-
3
Measure the width of the lens across the widest portion of one lens, and the height of the lens across the tallest portion of the lens. These measurements should be made on the inside of the frame and not include the frame itself.
-
4
Measure the bridge of the glasses. This is the section between the lenses that goes over the nose. Measure from the edge of the frame around one lens to the edge of the frame around the other lens.

5
Measure the arms starting with the overall length of the arm from the one end to the other. Then measure the length from the end of the arm where it attaches to the frame to the point where it bends. Finally, measure the length of the drop from the bend to the end of the arm where it goes behind the ear.
