How to Get Used to New Eyeglasses

Objects can appear slightly distorted through a pair of new eyeglasses due to a change in prescription, lens material or design. Other issues that may affect your comfort level when wearing new eyeglasses include the shape of the frame and the accuracy of the fitting. If you have trouble adjusting to your new eyeglasses, determine whether it qualifies as a temporary problem or an issue that requires fixing.

Instructions

    • 1

Wear the glasses everyday for most of the time. Resist taking them on and off -- or alternating them with a pair of old glasses. This will help you get used to your new eyeglasses more quickly.

    • 2

Figure out what is causing the problem. Perhaps the nose pieces pinch your nose or the glasses keep sliding down: Or maybe objects become slightly distorted when looking through parts of the lens.

    • 3

Wait one to two weeks and see if the distorted vision subsides; then contact your optician. Contact your optician as soon as possible, if you need your glasses adjusted for fit.

    • 4

Ask the optician to recheck the measurements of your eyes and the accuracy of your prescription, if the problem still remains.
