Schedule an appointment with an ophthalmologist. An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the testing, treatment and study of of the eyes and other visual organs and components.

Arrive at your scheduled appointment on time. Inform your doctor of any visual problems you may be experiencing such as blurry vision and problems reading. Your doctor will perform a series of exams to test your visual acuity with or without corrective lenses. Some exams may require your eyes to be dilated. If so, give yourself time for your pupils to return to normal before resuming your regular activities.

Speak to your doctor about your results. Your doctor will inform you of the state of your visual acuity and whether you are afflicted with low vision. If you are diagnosed with low vision, your doctor will inform you of reatment options such as rehabilitative training and surgical correction.
