How to Fix Your Glasses With Duct Tape

Aside from a severely scratched lens or a loose ear hinge, a snapped nose bridge is one of the most common problems among eyeglass wearers. Though most modern eyeglasses are built to endure everyday use over a long period of time, accidents can and will happen. The materials used in today's spectacles, usually flexible plastic or thin, durable metal, can make a replacement pair very costly. While not fabulously fashionable, a thin strip of duct tape will provide a temporary fix.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the nose bridge with a microfiber cloth. This will remove any skin oils which may ruin the tape's adhesion.

    • 2

Place the broken eyeglasses on a flat, well-lit surface. Push the two edges of the broken nose bridge together. If the nose bridge is not completely broken, bend the glasses so that they look as straight as possible.

    • 3

Cut a small strip of duct tape from the roll. The strip should be about a 1/2 inch wide by 4 inches long.

    • 4

Wrap the duct tape tightly around the length of the bridge. On each pass around the bridge, overlap the tape slightly.

    • 5

Press the tape firmly in place with your fingers. Snip away any excess tape.
