The Best Way to Replace a Scratched Lens
Eyeglasses are beneficial to anyone with less than perfect vision. The transportability of eyeglasses is what makes them so convenient, but it also makes them more susceptible to scratching or damage. While most lens scratches are a simple cosmetic annoyance, severe damage may cause distracting blurry spots in your vision. No matter whether you prefer wire-rimmed or plastic-rimmed eyeglasses, replacing a damaged lens is simple.Things You'll Need

Replacing a Lens in Wire-Rimmed Eyeglasses
-
1
Locate the small screw near the outside edge of the wire rim that holds the damaged lens.
-
2
Loosen this screw, using gentle quarter turns, with a micro screwdriver. Do not fully remove the screw, as it will be difficult to replace.
-
3
Push the damaged lens out of the rim once it is sufficiently loosened.
-
4
Insert the replacement lens so that the wire rim fits around it evenly.
-
5
Snug the screw until the lens is firmly embedded within the wire rim.
Replacing a Lens in Plastic-Rimmed Eyeglasses
-
6
Soak your eyeglass in a small bowl of hot water for 10 to 20 minutes. This will make the plastic more pliable and easy to maneuver while removing the lens.
-
7
Hold the eyeglasses between your hands and place your thumbs on the inside of the damaged lens.
-
8
Apply steady pressure to the lens with your thumbs until it pops out of the rim.
-
9
Insert the replacement lens into the groove of the rim.
-
10
Snap the lens into place using your thumbs to apply slight pressure.
