How to Use Bifocal Glasses
Learning to use your bifocal glasses is easy when you understand how they work and what you need to do to see up close and far away. Around the age of 40, many people notice that words and fonts start to seem smaller or that they need to hold things out further away from their eyes to read. Bifocals are glasses that let you see in the distance and help make reading easier too. Use these simple steps to see better with your bifocals.Instructions

1
Check the fit of your glasses. Make sure they are sitting properly on your nose and feel comfortable. If your glasses are too loose, the bifocal will be too low. If your glasses are crooked, your bifocals will not be sitting in the right place in front of your eyes.

2
Keep your chin raised and look down with your eyes to read. Because your bifocal sits in the bottom part of the frame, you need to look down to see through the reading portion. Put your chin down and look over the bifocal to see into the distance.

3
Hold the object you are reading at a comfortable distance, usually up to 18 inches from your glasses.

4
Turn your head when you want to read or see fine detail that is to your right or left. Opticians instruct a patient to "point with your nose" in the direction you want to read with your bifocal.
