Eye Health Exercises
Modern society, with its emphasis on computers at work and school, encourages eye strain. Blurred vision, eyestrain and headaches are all signs that your eye health is suffering. Other symptoms of eyestrain are tired eyes, sensitivity to bright light and heavy eyelids. It's possible to perform eye health exercises to restore your eyes to their best state. Eye exercises improve flexibility and reduce eye strain.-
Scanning
-
Increase the flexibility of your eyes by scanning. Sit in a chair at the end of a room. Scan around the edges of objects in the room, like televisions, lights and tables. Do this for two minutes at a time and take deep breaths during the exercise. The goal is to keep your eyes moving in a fluid way.
Near-Far Focus
-
Improve eye flexibility by doing near-far focus exercises. Start by holding one of your thumbs six inches away from your nose. Focus the eyes on your thumb. Take a deep breath. Move your eyes to focus on an object that is approximately 10 feet away. Repeat this motion 15 times.
Palming
-
Perform palming exercises to relax your eyes. Rub your hands together so that they're nice and warm. Cup your hands and put them over closed eyes. Overlap the fingers and rest them in the center of your forehead. Sit for one to two minutes with your hands over your eyes.
Focus Point
-
Sit down on a couch or a chair. Choose a point in the room that you can see from the right corner of your eyes, and another from the left corner of your eyes. Keep your eyes half-closed. Keep your spine erect, head straight and hands on your knees. Start by looking at the chosen point on the right and then one to the left. Do this four times. Blink seven to eight times and close the eyes. Perform the same exercise in reverse.
