Safety Glasses With Less Pressure on the Nose
Safety glasses are heavier than regular glasses and sometimes cause pressure on the ears and nose. There are several ways to reduce the pressure put on your nose by safety glasses.-
Significance
-
Safety glasses protect your eyes and face from injury. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) notes that safety frames and lenses are sturdier than dress or street-wear glasses. The extra weight, especially from the lenses, puts added pressure on the bridge of your nose.
Lenses
-
The lenses are usually the heaviest part of safety glasses. You can use a lighter material for your safety lenses to reduce the pressure on your nose. Polycarbonate lenses are the lightest type of safety lens and also the most shatter-resistant. Glass is the heaviest type of material.
Nosepads
-
Safety frames have one of two types of nosepads: fixed or adjustable. A fixed bridge must be measured accurately and sit in a comfortable place on the nose or it will cause pressure and pain. An adjustable nose pad, however, can be moved and adjusted to change the weight of the glasses on your nose, often making it a more comfortable solution.
