How to Adjust Glasses on the Nose

Eyeglasses need to be properly fitted to your face in order to provide the vision correction you require. Glasses can be adjusted at the temples, earpieces and nose. Your eye care professional can give your glasses a proper fitting to tailor them to your face. Over time, your eyeglasses may become loose at the nose area. This usually results from a loosening of the tiny screws holding the nose pieces in place. Fortunately, you can make simple adjustments to improve the fit and keep your glasses securely on your face.

Instructions

    • 1

Examine the nose pieces of your eyeglasses using the magnifying glass. The nose pieces are the pads that hold the glasses to the bridge of your nose. They need to be tight in order to properly grasp your nose.

    • 2

Place the tip of your screwdriver, included in the kit, into the head of the screw.

    • 3

Turn the head of the screw in a clockwise direction to tighten the pad. Do not over-tighten. Stop screwing when your feel the screw yield against your turning.

    • 4

Repeat the tightening process on the other nose pad.

    • 5

Put the glasses on and determine if the fit is comfortable. If necessary, remove the glasses and bend the pads outwards or inwards slightly to fit your nose. The pads have limited flexibility which allows for fine-tuning. Bend them gently to fit your face.
