How to Stop Eyeglasses from Sliding

Eyeglasses can develop an irritating habit of sliding down your nose during wear. As a result, you may have to push your glasses back up over and over. The cause of sliding glasses is usually related to their fit. You should always have an eye care professional adjust and fit your eyeglasses to your face. If they continue to slip, you can use an eyeglass repair kit to tighten the hinges and nose piece. If they still continue to slip, look into rubber earpiece sleeves.

  Use a magnifying glass to examine the nose pieces. Each of the nose pieces is held in place with a single screw.

  Place the tip of the tiny screwdriver from the eyeglass repair kit into the head of the screw. Turn the screw just until it yields to the turning. Don't overturn the screw as this can cause damage to the nose piece.

  Tighten the other nose piece screw.

  Use the magnifying glass to view the hinges located at the temple area. Again, there is a single screw on either side of the glasses.

  Place the tip of the screwdriver into the head of the screw. Turn the screw just until it yields to the turning. Don't overturn the screw. Repeat on the other hinge.

  Put on your glasses and wear for some time to determine if this slipping has been resolved. Tightening will usually fix the issue, but if doesn't, proceed to the next step.

  Place a rubber sleeve over each earpiece of your glasses. These sleeves will stretch over every size of earpiece. They sit snugly behind your ear to hold the glasses in place and prevent slippage.
