How to Adjust Eyeglass Frames That Are Squeezing Your Head
When a pair of eyeglasses is too tight around the head, they can squeeze behind the ears and cause discomfort. Oftentimes, this discomfort can lead to headaches or soreness. The squeezing occurs because the contact area is too narrow and the temple, or arm, of the glasses digs into your head. Your optician or any local vision center can adjust the frames for free; however, if you are unable to make it into the doctor's office, you can try to adjust them a bit on your own.Things You'll Need

1
Wash your hands so they are free of any dirt or lotion that may cause them to slip. Dry, clean hands will make bending and bowing the temples easier.
-
2
Grasp the frames with both hands. If the frames are plastic and seem easy to manipulate, hold the frame with one hand in the area where the lens meets the arm on one side while gently pressing your thumb into the middle of the opposite arm. Repeat this on the other side, and it should alleviate the pressure. Remember to bend the arms out very slowly.

3
Adjust frames that are more stubborn with an eyeglass screwdriver. The problem could be that the frames were fitted too tightly to your head. Hold the glasses in one hand while turning the screw slightly to the left.
-
4
Find the perfect level of comfort by unscrewing each side of the frames until the pressure is alleviated. Be sure not to loosen the screws too much, as this can cause glasses to move around or slide down your nose.

Ask a friend to determine whether any of the adjustments have made the frames crooked. Having a friend help you fit and adjust the frames will avoid any further problems, such as cockeyed frames, that can result from fixing the frames yourself.
