What gender is tay-sachs disease more common in?

Tay-Sachs disease is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder, meaning that both copies of the gene responsible for producing the enzyme hexosaminidase A (HEXA) must be mutated in order for the disease to develop. As such, Tay-Sachs disease affects males and females equally, as there is no gender predilection associated with the disorder.
