How long does it take to cure gonorrhea?

Gonorrhea is typically treated and cured within a week. Treatment usually involves a single dose of antibiotics, either ceftriaxone or azithromycin. The recommended treatment for uncomplicated gonorrhea is a single dose of 250 mg of ceftriaxone given intramuscularly. If ceftriaxone is not available or if the patient is allergic to cephalosporins, azithromycin 1 g orally in a single dose can be used as an alternative.
