Gout Remedy Supplements

Before Using Supplements
-
Although natural supplements can help gout, a few things can be done to be sure symptoms don't worsen while supplements are obtained. Eat less meat. Protien can cause uric acid levels in the blood to become elevated, which can aggravate gout. Don't drink alcohol. Alcohol can impede the removal of uric acid from the blood, slowing the healing process. Drink a lot of water. Water dilutes uric acid and can facilitate a faster recovery (see Reference 2).
Vitamin C
-
Though vitamin C hasn't been conclusively proven to treat gout, it has been said that this essential antioxidant can reduce uric acid levels. Don't, however, overdose on vitamin C since doing so can actually lead to an increase in acids. Consult a health professional to determine an adequate amount of daily vitamin C intake. Also, vitamins are more effective if eaten in foods rather than taken as a supplement. Oranges and other citrus fruits are great sources of vitamin C.
Uricelax
-
Uricelax is a commercial supplement blend that has been "clinically shown to synergistically minimize the detrimental effects of gout," according to uricelax.com. Uricelax also claims to support healthy kidney functions since 20 percent of all gout sufferers have been known to develop kidney stones (see Reference 3). It contains vitamin C, alfalfa, bilberry extract, rutin, bromelain, grapeseed extract, and other natural compounds that are said to work well together to fight gout. Always use any supplement according to recommendations found on the supplement label.
