What is gorophobia?
Gorophobia is the irrational fear of public speaking. It is a type of social anxiety disorder that can cause a person to feel extreme anxiety and panic when they are in a situation where they have to speak in front of others. People with gorophobia may avoid social situations altogether, or they may experience severe anxiety and physical symptoms when they are forced to speak in public.
Symptoms of gorophobia can include:
* Feeling extremely anxious or panicked when you have to speak in front of others
* Avoiding social situations where you might have to speak in public
* Experiencing physical symptoms such as sweating, shaking, blushing, or a racing heart when you have to speak in public
* Feeling like you are going to faint or lose control when you have to speak in public
* Having a negative self-image and thinking that you are not good at public speaking
Gorophobia is a treatable condition. There are a number of different treatment options available, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, medication, and support groups. If you think you might have gorophobia, talk to your doctor.
