Avoid eating animal organ products such as the brains, heart, kidney and blood of animals such as chickens, pigs, turkeys and cows. Animal organs are very high in purines and can raise your uric acid level significantly.

Avoid heavily sweetened foods such as pies, jams and jellies. Foods high in fructose are high in purines which turn into uric acid.
Gout can be extremely painful. Keep the pain under control by reducing or eliminating the amount of heavily sweetened foods you eat each day.

Avoid seafood products such as herring, mackerel and scallops to keep your gout under control. Seafood can be high in purines which lead to uric acid and aggravate gout symptoms.
Eliminate or reduce seafood in your diet to avoid triggering your gout.

Avoid certain vegetables such as mushrooms, broccoli, spinach and cauliflower.
