Avoid any intake of concentrated sources of purines, which are found in organ meats, mackerel, mussels and sardines. Most meats are sources of purines and should be limited if you have a problem with gout. Protein is an essential part of the diet and cannot be avoided, but you can limit you intake of high purine proteins.

2
Increase your fluid levels to lessen the load on your kidneys. Stick with water as much as possible, and avoid alcohol. Ice tea contains oxalic acid, which can lead to kidney stones if consumed in excess.
-
3
Eat fruits, especially cherries and cranberries, as they increase kidney function by neutralizing the uric acid. Melons, peaches, apples and grapes are all excellent for improving the kidneys. Vegetables of all sorts are also excellent for an overall healthy diet.

4
Exercise. Poor circulation caused by obesity and high blood pressure help set the stage for gout. Incorporate a daily routine of walking, swimming, bicycling or any other activity that will increase blood flow to your whole body.
