How to Avoid Uric Acid in My Diet
Instructions
-
-
1
Avoid foods high in purine such as organ or game meats, dried beans or peas, tuna, herring, sardines, sunflower or poppy seeds, and anchovies.
-
2
Avoid drinking caffeinated beverages such as tea, coffee or carbonated drinks. These can elevate uric acid levels.
-
3
Limit your alcohol consumption. Drink moderately, as indulging often in alcoholic beverages can raise uric acid levels.
-
4
Maintain a healthy weight; obesity can cause concentrations of uric acid in the bloodstream.
-
5
Avoid eating foods rich in niacin or vitamin B3, as these can elevate uric acid. Some foods with high levels of niacin are chicken or turkey breast, lamb loin, salmon, halibut, crimini mushrooms, soy sauce, asparagus and beef tenderloin (see Reference 2).
