1
Reduce Salt Intake
High salt intake is not recommended for individuals suffering from gout. Reduce or eliminate salt from your diet. You will still receive enough salt naturally from the foods you eat. If you need to add flavor to your foods, you can use a salt substitute that is made of 100% potassium such as No Salt.
Reducing salt intake will help you keep the swelling down in your feet and ankles.

2
Reduce Highly Sweetened Foods
Eliminate naturally or artificially sweetened foods such as pies, jams, jellies and wine. Even natural fructose can increase uric acid and trigger a bout of gout. Read food labels and avoid fructose and high fructose corn syrup foods. You can relieve your arthritis and gout symptoms by keeping your uric acid levels low.

3
Reduce Animal Organ Consumption
Eliminate animal organ foods from your diet. Animal organs significantly increase uric acid levels which contribute to gout symptoms. Animal organs such as liver, kidneys, brain, tongue and heart have extremely high levels of uric acid. All animal organs are high in uric acid whether it is from a turkey, chicken, pig, cow or other animal.
You can still eat other animal parts, just no animal organs.

4
Reduce Foods High in Uric Acid
Eliminate other foods that are high in uric acid such as beans, lentils, mushrooms, spinach and cauliflower. Check with your doctor for a current list of foods that you should not consume when you have gout arthritis.
There is no guarantee that reducing foods that are high in uric acid will reduce your symptoms of gout because some individuals naturally have high uric acid levels. Consult your doctor for more information on how to relieve your gout symptoms.
